Ch-1


   Q1. What is photoshop?
          Photoshop is a graphics editing program (also known as a DPP, Desktop Publishing Program) developed and
          published by Adobe Systems. Photoshop is the current and primary market leader for commercial bitmap and   
          image manipulation software, and is the flagship product of Adobe Systems.

Q2.Write the features of RGB and CMYK
      RGB:
      It contains red, green and blue color.
      It works best with electronic display device
      It adds color to a black background.

      CMYK:
      It contains cyan, magenta, yellow and black color.
      It removes color from a white background
      It works best with color printers.


Q3.What is dimension of image?

     Number of pixels contained in the width and height define the dimensions of an image.
     For example image dimension 25*25 means 25 pixels wide by 25 pixels high.

Q4.What is pixel?
    Pixels are those tiny dots of color that come together to form an image.


Q5.What is bitmap image?

     Bitmap image is a representation, consisting of rows and columns of dots, of a graphics image in computer
     memory.


Q6. What is resolution?

    The density of the dots, known as the resolution, determines how sharply the image is represented. This is often  
    expressed in dots per inch (dpi ) or simply by the number of rows and columns, such as 640 by 480.


Q7. What is vector graphics?

      With vector graphics, images are represented as mathematical formulas that define all the shapes in the image.
      Vector graphics are more flexible than bit-mapped graphics because they look the same even when you scale them
      to different sizes. In contrast, bit-mapped graphics become ragged when you shrink or enlarge them.


Q8. Write the features of gif and jpeg format?

      GIF for images is used where there is large flat areas and single colors. GIF also supports transparency.
      Use JPEG for all other images that are not diagrams. JPEGs compress data better than GIFs meaning they will
      have smaller file size.

Q1. What is blend mode?

      Blends mode defines how the layer blends with other layers. There are 24 different blend modes you can apply to  
      layers.


Q2.What is visibility toggle?

     The Eye icon allows you to make layers visible or invisible within the image windoe. Click the eye icon within the
     Pen layer. The eye icon disappears and the pen image becomes invisible. Click the Visibility toggle again. The Eye
     icon displays, and the pen image appears one again on your image window.


Q3.What is layer?

      Layers allow you to move parts of your image independently off the rest of your image. Layers give you the ability
      to make changes and experiment with parts of your image without screwing up the image as a whole.


Q4.What is opacity?

      Opacity affects transparency over everything in a layer such as the shape, a drop shadow associated with the
      shape, etc. Opacity and Fill are similar features.

     Q5. Explain about the Photoshop Work Area?

            The work area in Photoshop has the following basic functionality and features:

            1.Menu Bar -  this is where we can access most of the commands and features in Photoshop
            2.Drawing Palette - this is where the image being worked on will appear
            3.Options bar - content sensitive display of tool options ? changes as different tools are selected
            4.Tool box - for creating an editing images (display or hide using Windows > Tools)
            5.Palettes - to monitor and modify images (there are 5 palettes by default)

     Q6. How can you unlock Background layer?

            Double click the background layer and press OK.

     Q7. How can you organize layers in Photoshop?

            When we create a Photoshop image using different layers then we can easily edit any part of the image by
            selecting desired layer. And locking other layers make our modification more flexible.
     Q8. What are the 10 blending options?
            Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Beval and Emboss, Satin ,Color Overlay, Gradiant           
            Overlay, Pattern Overlay, Stroke.

     Q9. Write the benefits of using layer set.
             a. It is easy to identify the specific layer for any type of modifications.
             b. It organizes the layers properly.
             c. We can easily change the decoration of the specific layer.

     Q1. What is selection of image?
            Selection of image is Choose an area that we wish to isolate from the rest of an image. There are many selection
            tools in Photoshop, such as marquee tool, lasso tool, pen tool etc.

     Q2. What are the different types of pen tool selection?
             Pen tool
             Freedom pen tool,
             Add Anchor point tool,
             Delete Anchor point tool,
             Convert point tool.

     Q3. How many ways you can make selection using marquee tool?
            Rectangular Marquee tool,
            Elliptical Marquee Tool,
            Single Row Marquee Tool,
            Single Column Marquee Tool.

     Q4. How do we crop an image in Photoshop?

            Cropping an image allows us to cut out any portion of the image you don't like and/or make an image smaller.
           Any image scanned into the computer can be cropped to a smaller image.

    Q5. What is Gradients in Adobe Photoshop?

           Gradients are a great way to introduce flashy, eye-catching graphics in our pages.

    Q6. How do you select an exact color to match?

           There are two ways of doing this: The easiest way is to use the eyedropper tool to sample the color as our
           foreground color - make sure the foreground color square is selected when we use the eyedropper tool - then use a
           brush, pencil or the paint bucket tool to cover the area.

    Q7. How to achieve Black/White with Color Detail

           Using  the lasso tool to carefully select the elements that you want to retain as color - we may even want to feather
           the selection by a couple of pixels if it looks better. Once we have these selected, invert the selection so that
           everything except the eyes/lips are selected, then desaturate the layer.

     Q8. How do you adjust the color balance of an image of layer in Photoshop?

            It is ctrl-B. We can find it in Image, Adjustments, Color Balance.


Ch-5


      Q1. What are the four selection options of marquee tool?
         Ans: 1) New Selection: This is the default option
                  2) Add to Selection: This option allows to add more selections to existing selection
                  3) Subtract: This option subtracts from existing selection
                  4) Intersect: This allows to create a selection where two selections intersect.

      Q2. What is feathering?
         Ans:  Feather is an option used to softened edges around the images-where edges of an image gradually fade to transparent.

      Q3. Why tool preset option is used in Photoshop?

             The tool presets are a way of storing settings for a particular tool. The tool presets are useful if you need the same
             set of options repeatedly.

      Q4.Write the function of anti-aliasing in Photoshop?

            Anti-aliasing is Photoshop method of smoothing the jagged appearance of angled and curve lines.


      Q5. What are the crop tool options after cropping?
         Ans: Shield: Shield is the grey area outside the crop region
                  Color: This option allows to define the color of the cropped-out area.
                 Opacity: Opacity allows to define the darkness of the shield color.
                 Perspective: This allows to orient the crop selection.

      Q6. Which tools are used for irregular selection?
          Ans: Lasso Tool: This tool allows to draw selections freehand with mouse.
                   Polygonal Lasso Tool: This allows to make selection by drawing straight lines, resulting in a polygonal shape.
                  Magnetic Lasso Tool: This is similar to Polygonal Lasso Tool. But it attaches itself to the image.

      Q7. Write the options of magnetic lasso tool.
         Ans: Width: This defines the edge distance from which the Magnetic Lasso will try to attach.
                 Edge Contrast: This option defines the sensitivity
                 Frequency: This defines how often the Magnetic Lasso creates anchor
                 Pen Pressure: This enables the use of pressure sensitive tablet device.

      Q1. Which option of pen tool allows freehand drawing?
        Ans: Freeform Pen Tool allows to draw freehand. We can also choose to make the pen tool magnetic, which works similar to the Magnetic Lasso Tool.

      Q2. How path selection tool and direct selection tool works?
         Path Selection Tool: If we click a closed path with this tool, the entire path becomes selected. We can see all the anchor points within the path and can move the entire path at once.
        Direct Selection Tool: This allows to select a single anchor point, and then move, expand or reduce it with the direction lines.

      Q2. What is benefit of slicing an image?
         Ans: The slice tool allows to “slice” an image into smaller parts, resulting in faster loads when viewed through a web browser.

      Q3. Which graphic format is best for web page and why?
         Ans: JPEG format is best for web page because it provides the best quality and file size for the web.


Ch-8

      Q2. What is tiling problem?
When the file size of a graphic is small then web browsers file (repeat) small graphics to fill the background of a webpage. The tilling problem is it requires processing power from our computer. It is also time consuming. Or tiling takes more time.

Ch-9

      Q1. What is WYSIWYG?

WYSIWYG is an application allows users to see on their monitor exactly what their document will look like when viewed in its final form.

      Q1. How can you apply blur effect into an image?
We can apply blur effects into an image by selecting
        Filter
        Bluer
        Blur from the menu bar
        chose desired option
        ok

      Q2. How can you apply noise effect into an image? What are the noise options?

We can apply noise effect into an image  by selecting

Noise options are: 1. Add Noise; 2. Despeckle; 3. Dust & Scratches 4. Median and 5. Reduce Noise

      Q3. What is Gradients?

We can apply photo filter effect into an image by selecting

   Q3. What is mean by dodging and burning a photo?
Dodging and burning allows us to tweak the lightness (dodging) and darkness (burning) of an image.
